I am Jamie,
I’m a musician
Having played drums and percussion since 2007, I have experience playing in original, covers, and resident bands around the UK in places like Leicester, Manchester, and Nottingham. More recently, I have turned my hand to writing and performing poetry and songs as a solo artist, recording and releasing music, and making and selling merch.
I have quite an academic background in music having taken grades in snare drum, tuned percussion, and drum kit (the latter up to grade 7). I also passed an extended diploma music performance course with merit in 2016, and have started a Ba(Hons) degree at BIMM Manchester in 2017.
I started gigging in 2013 with my first band, Afterthought Playground. In 2014, I was asked to cover for the drummer in blues band, Hobo Low. At a day’s notice, I learned an hour-long set of originals and covers and went down a storm on the night. Which is where I was spotted and given position of percussionist in Acid Haystack.
Later, I formed Dead Question at college, writing to a high level of technicality and creativity, which really pushed me to develop my playing. After seeing me play with them, I was approached by Beth Morris, and together, we formed Jitterz.
Jitterz have had a good amount of success, gaining a strong following, radio play, and praise from various bloggers, promoters, and fellow musicians. We released our debut EP Get a Real Job in Summer 2017.
I continue to play in bands, and also write my own music and poetry under the name Jamie B. I am also venturing into trip hop too, so that may be something to look out for…
